The Swedish Academy publishes classics of Swedish literature on a continual basis. The purpose is keep the works of classic writers accessible, not least with new, young readers in mind. To this end, the works are published in versions using modern spelling rules and at affordable prices.
Each work is given a brief introduction, written by one of the Academy’s members. Specially chosen experts also provide commentaries and glossaries. The series is published in collaboration with Bokförlaget Atlantis.
The classics series is published only in Swedish, several in pocket editions. On the Academy’s Swedish-language website, the classics are available as pdf files.
